Jim Patton graduated from the University of Southern California in 1991 and later Received his Master of Business Administration degree from Pennsylvania State University in 1994. As NewMark Merrill’s Senior Vice President of Leasing and Acquisitions, Mr. Patton is responsible for acquiring existing shopping centers for the company, securing management contracts and sourcing raw land for development. Additionally, Mr. Patton oversees the asset management of several of NewMark Merrill’s Southern California properties.
Mr. Patton has over 24 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry, beginning his career under the direction of Mr. Sigal at West Venture Companies in 1991. As Director of Business Development for West Venture’s commercial division, Mr. Patton added over 1 million square feet of retail space to the company’s portfolio.
In 1997 Mr. Patton left West Venture to assist in the formation of the NewMark Merrill Companies. Since that time, Mr. Patton has been responsible for the acquisition of numerous assets throughout California, Colorado, Nevada and Illinois, totaling over 6 million square feet. Mr. Patton has also sourced numerous management opportunities for the company, while successfully leasing over 600,000 square feet of retail space.
Mr. Patton has spoken on several panels for the International Council of Shopping Centers, as well as serving as the Co-Chairman for the 2010 Long Beach Convention. He has also been a guest speaker at the University of Southern California’s Marshall School of Business.
