Canine Auditions for Rose Bowl Parade
Shelter of Hope Anniversary Event is All About Canine Care & Fun
THOUSAND OAKS, CALIF. (October 4, 2016) – The “Shelter of Hope Surfing Five Years” celebration on Sunday, October 16 at Janss Marketplace features a once in a lifetime opportunity for dog owners. Bring YOUR dog to audition for a chance to surf on a water filled float in the Tournament of Roses parade.
The dog surfing auditions are a featured event at the Shelter Hope Pet Shop’s Fifth Anniversary celebration from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Janss Marketplace, located off the Moorpark exit on the 101 Freeway at the intersection of Moorpark Road and Hillcrest Drive in Thousand Oaks. The Shelter Hope Pet Shop, located in a storefront space donated by Janss Marketplaces in Thousand Oaks, invites the public to celebrate the cause related organization’s five years of rescuing homeless animals from the streets and shelters of the greater Los Angeles and Conejo Valley areas to find them forever homes. Since 2011, Shelter Hope Pet Shop has saved over 2,500 dogs.
In addition to the dog surfing auditions, the fun-filled day will feature a pet costume contest, grain-free pet food sampling from Protein for Pets, training tips and giveaways from Camp Bow Bow and The Nutrition Fix heart-healthy shakes and teas for two-legged guests. Janss Marketplace merchants including The Dude’s Brewery, Hooters, Buca di Beppo and Regal Cinemas will have special offers.
Pinot’s Palette artists will create paintings of some of the adoptable dogs during the event. The lucky adopters of the dog subjects will receive the paintings as a gift. Canine Adoption and Rescue League (CARL) and Volunteers in Defense of Animals (VIDA) will join the Shelter Hope Pet Shop to try to get forever homes for approximately 100 animals.
