Bloomingdale Chamber businesses award scholarships to 12 local students
On June 9, the Bloomingdale Chamber of Commerce awarded scholarships to local students. Through the generosity of chamber members and a few fundraisers, 12 students received $1,000 scholarship money to use toward their secondary education.
The students’ background and where they are headed vary, but they all had something in common besides the excellent grades, they also have given back to their community through volunteering. It was inspiring to learn about their accomplishments.
“This is my favorite event of the year. It’s an honor and a privilege to be in the company of such outstanding young leaders,” said donor Dr. Aimee Harris Newton of The Center of Functional and Integrative Health and Wellness who has been a donor for over 11 years now.
Mike Davison of Platt Hill Nursery also loves the event. “The best thing I ever did for Platt Hill Nursery was to put money toward the scholarships. The feeling of helping out a bright new mind from the community advance is priceless.”
It is the businesses who deserve all the thanks. They funded the scholarships and believe in giving back to the community by investing in the future of these students.
